Concept Samsung ISD Phone.
Concept smartphone – Samsung device with a 720p display. The handset is bigger than the iPhone, a bit wider and comes with an 8 megapixel camera at the back and front, strange as that may seem. The Samsung ISD supports fingerprint authentication, sliding on the screen for navigation purposes and more. Inside there’s a Hummingbird CPU and the phone is supposed to run the latest version of Windows Phone OS. ISD is a device with an edge to edge display, something that we’ve been waiting to become reality for a while now. Interestingly the front camera is integrated into the top left side here and will probably give a great videocall experience if this model has LTE connectivity.
Review of Samsung Galaxy Tablet
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is an outstanding tablet with Android Honeycomb inside it. It is technically thinner and lighter than the Apple iPad 2. The Samsung Galaxy Tab’s a big contender in the arena of tablets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is 0.2mm thinner than iPad 2, having only 8.6mm of laser accuracy thickness. Its weight is just 565 grams and this is further 36 grams lighter than the iPad 2.
One can look at the Samsung Galaxy Tab and easily come to the conclusion that this tablet is a magnificent marvel of engineering. When one holds this in one hand, one can easily say that it looks more of a mini version of the Samsung LED HDTV. The engineers have gone in to details like a person when holds the tablet, slightly touches the screen and hence there is a slight edge of the screen throughout that is devoid of touch enabling.
The device is right enough to be compared with the other competitors as many have considered this device marvel as the best e-book reader while on the way. Android Honeycomb version 3.1 enables the processor to be used optimistically even, to the heaviest of the application running on the tablet.
Samsung Galaxy Tab does not have a USB port and this means that it cannot be connected to any of the computer based devices, but there is no requirement also as Samsung has made it as a pick and go device having the portability and functionality.
The front facing camera is 2Megapixel camera and the rear of it has a 3 Megapixel camera that can be utilized on heavy duty basis.
The best part is the 7000mAh rechargeable battery that is inside it, and it is the best because it gives the Samsung Galaxy Tab users an added advantage of using the device all day long. Nine hours is the limit if the Samsung Galaxy Tab is used for hearing music or watching videos or even playing games, when the tablet is utilized to maximum.
A built in gyro and a four way accelerometer gives the ability to respond faster to the turns and rotations of the screen and works even better when the kids are playing the games. Built-in features like GPS, Adobe Flash Browser, screen resolution of 1290 x 800, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, has given the tablet a boost in the market for its availability at a lower price range than the other Android based tablets. For sure, Samsung Galaxy Tab is an excellent by for techies and professionals.
AT&T introduces WP7 Samsung Focus S and Focus Flash
AT&T has just announced its new lineup of WP7 smartphones and unveiled a couple of new Samsung-made smartphones in the process. The Samsung Focus S and Focus Flash are both Mango-running devices that come with the sweetly deep blacks of SuperAMOLED tech.
The Samsung Focus S is the more impressive offering with its 4.3″ Super AMOLED Plus placed on top of a super slim 8.65mm body. You’d also be getting an 8 megapixel main camera and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing snapper with this one. The CPU under the Samsung Focus S bonnet ticks at 1.4GHz (no dual-core apparently), while its built-in radios allow for 4G speeds (though we suspect HSPA+ is what they meant).
The other new offering is Samsung Focus Flash, which offers a 3.7″ Super AMOLED of the non-plus variety and a 5 megapixel camera. AT&T doesn’t say anything about a front-facing camera, but we assume those are considered standard by now. Again, there’s a 1.4 GHz CPU inside.
Strangely enough, though, AT&T, failed to provide images of the newly announced devices. We’ll be updating this article when their PR department gets round to uploading them on their website.
The third new addition to the AT&T Windows Phone 7 lineup is the HTC Titan, which was announced at the start of the month. The 4.7″-screen’d smartphone will be packing a 1.5 GHz CPU, but won’t be getting a screen technology as impressive as that of the Samsung smartphones.
The final bit of good news brought to us by the press release is the upcoming Mango update for all of the current WP7 smartphones that AT&T offers. Carriers are known for being responsible for the delay of updates, but AT&T promises that won’t be the case with HTC HD7S, HTC Surround, LG Quantum and Samsung Focus.
Samsung Galaxy S gets an official Android 2.3.5 update, unofficially
The Samsung Galaxy S might be old news already, but it hasn’t been forgotten by its maker just yet. A firmware update for the previous flagship of the Korean company, which brings its Android version number to 2.3.5 just surfaced online.
What we have here is a Samsung-written ROM, but it’s not an official release so if you want to try it now, you?d be doing it at your own risk. Leaked ROMs like this one are usually relatively stable (or at least as far as unofficial releases go), but the flashing process itself involves some risk, not to mention that it voids your warranty.
Coming with the fancy I9000XXJVS name, the latest Galaxy S ROM has its build date set to September 8th and brings the SGS Android version to 2.3.5. Early adopters haven’t reported major changes brought by the new ROM, but if you want, you may install it and take a look yourselves.
You will find the Google-translated instructions on how to get it up and running on your Galaxy S over at the source link below. Once again, only proceed if you know what you are doing.

Samsung introduces Wave 3, M and Y smartphones
Samsung has announced three new additions to its Wave line of smartphones, the Wave 3 (pictured), Wave M and Wave Y
Image Gallery (8 images)Among the many smartphones being introduced to the public at IFA 2011 are three additions to Samsung’s Wave family – namely the Wave 3, Wave M and Wave Y. All three phones use the company’s new bada 2.0 platform, which according to Samsung “brings together a wide variety of new capabilities including multi-tasking, Wi-Fi Direct, voice recognition and Near Field Communication (optional).” The platform is also said to allow for photo and file sharing without internet networking, mobile payments and transport pass-card recharge.
The leader of the pack, the anodized aluminum unibodied Wave 3, features a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.4GHz processor and HSPA+ connectivity. Apps include Samsung’s Social Hub, ChatON and Music Hub, which enables users to purchase and download music tracks and albums over-the-air. It also has 3 GB of internal memory (expandable to 32 GB), front and rear cameras (the rear is 5 MP), and offers up to 480 hours of talk time on one charge.
In the middle is the Wave M, with a slightly smaller 3.65-inch tempered glass HVGA screen, a 832MHz processor, and HSDPA 7.2 connectivity. Most of the other specs are similar to the Wave 3’s, although it has 150 MB of memory, and the phone itself is a bit smaller and lighter, with a less powerful battery.
Finally, there’s the Wave Y, which is the smallest in terms of overall size, weight and battery power. It has a 3.2-inch HVGA display and a single 2 MP camera, with most of the other specs matching up with the Wave M.
Below is a chart illustrating how the main specs of all three devices compare.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 gets the Super AMOLED Plus display treatment
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 features a 1280 x 800 Super AMOLED Plus display
Image Gallery (8 images)Only a couple of months after Samsung debuted its Galaxy Tab at IFA 2010 rumors were circulating that an AMOLED version may have been in the works. One year on from the official launch of the tablet, Samsung has unveiled just such a device at IFA 2011 in the form of the Galaxy Tab 7.7. As the name suggests, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 sports a 7.7-inch display (that’s 0.7-inches bigger than the original Galaxy Tab) and is the first tablet to feature a Super AMOLED Plus display, which boasts 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and promises brighter, higher-contrast viewing.
The device is powered by a dual-core 1.4 GHz processor and runs Android 3.2 (Honeycomb), skinned with Samsung’s TouchWiz UX UI. Although Samsung’s press info lists a massive 8 GB of RAM, expect a more realistic 1 GB. The unit will come in 16, 32 and 64 GB storage capacities, expandable by up to a further 32 GB via microSD card.

With HSPA+ support the Galaxy Tab 7.7 offers theoretical download speeds of up to 21 Mbps, while Wi-Fi channel bonding improves Wi-Fi connection and doubles download speed by combining two channels into one. There’s a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. Other specs include Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz), A-GPS, and Universal Remote Control functionality that allows the tablet to control the various components of your home entertainment system.
On the design front the Galaxy Tab 7.7 certainly has a lot to recommend it. The device is just 7.89 mm thick and weighs in at 335 g (12 oz) with a metal casing and rounded edges replacing the plastic case and sharp edges of its predecessor. With dimensions of 196.7 x 133 x 7.89 mm, the device is small enough to slip into a jacket pocket, yet big enough for comfortable viewing on the go. It can playback 1080 p Full HD video with the 5,100 mAh battery said to provide up to 10 hours of video playback.

The TouchWiz UX UI features a Live Panel menu that lets users customize the home screen with pictures, Web sites and social network feeds, while a “Mini Apps” tray allows commonly used features, such as task manager, calendar and music player, to be launched while other applications re already in use. Additionally, the inclusion of Samsung’s Hub Services – Games, Music, Readers and Social Hubs – provides access to related content in one place.
No word from Samsung on pricing or availability as yet, but the Galaxy Tab 7.7 definitely looks set to impress when it does arrive.
Samsung launches Series 7 CHRONOS notebook
Samsung has launched the Series 7 CHRONOS notebook at IFA 2011 – with super fast startup, bigger screens for the chassis size and the latest Core i7 processor.
Image Gallery (5 images)No doubt looking to capitalize on the success of its gorgeous Series 9 notebook, Samsung has unveiled two Series 7 CHRONOS premium notebooks at IFA 2011. Thanks to something Samsung has dubbed MAX screen technology, the company has managed to squeeze 15- and 15.6-inch screens into frame sizes normally reserved for 14- and 15-inch notebooks. Both models will come with an Intel Core i7 processor, a spacious 750GB HDD and 8GB of DDR3 system memory. There’s also some extra flash memory on the motherboard that’s said to result in faster startup times and enhanced performance.
Samsung says that its new Series 7 CHRONOS notebook can wake from sleep in around two seconds and is ready to go from cold in just 19 seconds, representing a 33 percent improvement on previous models. This is achieved thanks to ExpressCache technology that sees an extra 8GB of flash memory on the motherboard, coupled with the raw power offered by Intel’s Core i7 2675QM Quad Core processor running at 2.2GHz.

The CHRONOS will be available in two screen sizes, both with an outdoor-friendly 300-nit brightness and 1600 x 900 resolution. The model featuring the anti-reflective, LED backlit, slim bezel 15-inch display weighs just 4.78 pounds (2.17kg), and the 15.6-inch screen version weighs 5.09 pounds (2.31kg). Both versions are 0.94-inch (23.9mm) thin and feature an AMD Radeon HD6750M GPU with a gigabyte of dedicated GDDR5 memory.
High definition audio is supplied by Samsung’s SoundAlive audio technology through a pair of 2W stereo speakers and a 2W embedded subwoofer. The notebooks run on Windows 7 Professional (64-bit edition), have a backlit keyboard that incorporates useful ambient light sensing auto adjustment and are shipped with Samsung’s Easy Migration software that help take the strain out of file transfer from an old computer over USB connection, Ethernet or Wi-Fi network.
Finishing off the specs are two USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 port, a 4-in-1 media card reader, a Super-Multi optical drive, HDMI-out, a 1.3 megapixel high definition webcam and wireless connectivity in the shape of Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi.
The included 80Wh, 8-cell battery is said to offer up to eight hours on a single charge, and Samsung’s Battery Life Plus technology is also reported to significantly extend the useful life of the battery.
At the time of writing, we have no information on release and pricing – we’ll keep you posted.
